I have been working from home for the past 10 years as a consultant. A lot of my students and friends have been asking me for advice. Many of them do not have many hobbies. Most of them are anxious about losing their jobs, as many of them are into small businesses. They’ve been asking me about hobbies to keep their mind off these things. I have been thinking of converting the krav maga course. Take the focus off self-defence and make more it more fitness-focused. That way it can be taught online and doesn’t require another person. Personally, this has been a good time for me. I have been taking up painting again, alongside my krav maga practice.
I also have shot a short film and acted in a movie, which releases just before the shutdown. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family. My son-in-law and daughter are here with us, and for the last two months, it felt like a vacation. I also get to spend a lot of time with my grandchildren, which is of course very good. My short film in Tamil Ematharam Mathram is centred around making a bad situation good by changing your mindset. The shutdown is something out of our control. We cannot end it on our own for our safety. So I focus on the things in my life I can change, and adapt myself to get used to this new normal.
