The heavy downpour has devastated the state of Tamil Nadu, rendering many families homeless. Though the rain stopped, people are still unable to get back to normal life as many areas are still flooded and many huts washed away. Not only government but also a number of political parties are in action to assist the rain hit areas and people.

On behalf of All India Congress Committee Party, AICC General Secretary and State Observer Mukul Wasnik, Former Central Minister K V Thomas, TNCC President EVKS Elangovan, National Spokesperson, actress Kushboo and Vice President H Vasanthakumar have inspected the areas of Perambur, Mettupalayam, Govindan Street and Arunthathiyar Nagar.

Speaking to media persons after the distribution of blankets, towels and sarees those severely affected by the rain, EVKS Elangovan said, “TN government tried to stop this welfare assistance event by removing the stage prepared for the function. I would like to tell that people are watching the government’s atrocities.”

During the interaction with reporters, All India Congress Spokesperson Kushboo said, “Tamil Nadu government hasn’t done anything useful so far for the rain affected people. They are claiming that they allocated Rs.500 crores for relief works but spent Rs.1000 crores for buying theaters. The people of Tamil Nadu would teach them a fit lesson in upcoming 2016 Assembly Election.”

Chaos ensued at the venue as both Congress and AIADMK parties arranged welfare assistance events at same location and both parties’ leaders and volunteers gathered there.
