In the wake of the recent rains, several institutions were closed in districts including Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur for over a week, which led to postponement of exams. Numerous students were concerned whether the postponement of exams will delay the results, thereby impacting their placements.
Following the rains, the examinations scheduled till December 14 were postponed for University departments and all its affiliated Colleges.
Anna University Registrar Prof S Ganesan said the university had been taking all possible steps to announce the results by third week of February. “As per our Vice Chancellor’s orders, the University’s Controller of Examination will request heads of private engineering colleges to depute additional faculty to evaluate answer scripts so that we can publish results by the third week of February. We will ensure that students are not affected in any way,” he said.
Colleges are exploring possibilities of working on Saturdays and to reduce vacations this month to compensate the holiday to help students prepare well, besides performing well in examinations.
