Hunt on for kidnappers of SI’s daughter

The 22-yearold daughter of a police personnel in Chennai was abducted by some unidentified persons in Chennai on Thursday

Ramalingam, who serves as a Sub-Inspector at Tambaram police station, is the father of Kalaiarasi (22), who has completed Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and is working at a pharmacy outlet in Selayur. Kalaiarasi, who went to work as usual on Thursday, did not return home in the evening. 

Following this, Sub-Inspector Ramalingam filed a complaint with Selayur police. The police have filed a case regard and are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Ramalingam received a phone call from his daughter Kalaiarasai who told him she was forcefully kidnapped by some unidentified persons and is near Maduranthakam area. The phone line was cut as she was talking.

When Ramalingam tried to dial the same number from which she had called, it was switched off. The police are probing from all angles to find out if someone affected by Ramalingam had abducted Kalaiarasi as an act of revenge. Details about her close friends are being collected in an attempt to trace the culprits. The kidnap has created tension amidst the people of Tambaram. 

Parent issues bomb threat 

Disappointed over the school’s decision to cancel Christmas holidays, mother of a school student in Vepery, issued a bomb threat to her daughter’s school in Vepery over a phone call on Wednesday. The private school on Kathiappa street, Vepery received a mysterious phone call in which a woman said that bombs will be planted at the school premises between December 26 to 30. She asked the school to declare holidays for the schools on these days if they want to save the students. Following a complaint from the school management the Vepery police registered a case in this connection. Interrogations revealed that the phone call has been made from a PCO in near the school. The police quizzed the owner of the booth who informed them that a woman hiding her face with a cloth made a call during the said time. Apparently the school was planning to cancel Christmas vacation due to rain holidays. Based on evidences collected, the police suspect that a parent of a student from the same area, upset over this move could have made the phone call. The police are yet to ascertain the true identity of the woman.
