Actor Vishal and actor-politician Sarath Kumar, famously clashed during the highly publicised Nadigar Sangam polls, and now the duo seem to have opposing points of view over Simbu and Anirudh’s infamous ‘Beep Song’ as well. On Dec 19, Sarath Kumar addressed the media and spoke strongly against the song. “Songs which denigrated women are not welcome,” he said, adding that if the Beep Song denigrated women then it was wrong whoever it might be. He wondered why the Nadigar Sangam’s office bearers were silent on the issue.
It may be recalled that Simbu contested for the vice president’s post as part of the Sarath Kumar group, in the recently concluded sangam elections. The former South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA)president and AISMK leader wondered why present association president Nasser was silent on the issue. A few hours later, actor Vishal, who was shooting for ‘Marudhu’ at Rajapalayam in a statement said, “I am not speaking for or against Simbu. There are no problems as long as issues are kept within four walls.” Stating that controversial scenes and songs could be audited, he said that even if the song was Simbu’s personal issue, he could have prevented it.” It may be recalled that a complaint was lodged with the Coimbatore police by AIDWA leader Ms. Radhika based on which summons were issued for the duo to appear before the police to explain themselves.
Though Simbu’s father T Rajendar complained to the Chennai police commissioner that unknown persons had mischeviously included lyrics in his son’s song to hurt his name and image. Simbu also moved the HC seeking an interim stay against the case filed against him. Anirudh, meanwhile, put out a statement from Toronto in Canada for film work stating that he was in no way connected with the entire episode. But though his team members returned to Chennai, the composer failed to show up raising speculation about his whereabouts.
With both Simbu and Anirudh being absent from their Chennai homes, speculation is now rife as to their whereabouts for the issue to progress toward a natural end.
