Aid disbursed to conservancy workers

Corporation conservancy workers who have been involved in relief work in the city were awarded with an incentive of Rs 2000 each

Conservancy staff who were brought to the city from other districts in Tamil Nadu for clean- up operations following the November-December rain and floods, were provided with an incentive of Rs 2000 as announced by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for their work. So far, the Corporation of Chennai has spent Rs 5.56 crore towards disbursement of the incentives.

 As many as a thousand conservancy workers hailing from Krishnagiri, Hosur, Tirunelvelli, Tiruchi, and Thoothukudi districts are put up at the Kilpauk indoor basketball stadium. Chennai Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kapoor and Secretary of Health Dr. J Radhakrishnan visited the workers and enquired about the facilities provided to them. 

They were advised to avail of the facilities at the special medical camps and request for any additional facilities they required. 

Other officials including Deputy Commissioner (Health) R Kannan accompanied the senior officials.
