Ambedkar law varsity to conduct live online lectures

The Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University, will shortly begin telecasting realtime video lectures for students of law colleges in the state

With the aim of enhancing the legal knowledge of students and to utilise the lectures of the best faculty, the Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University, will soon start live video lectures for students of the seven government law colleges in the state, benefitting over 10,000 law students.

University vice-chancellor Prof P Vanangamudi said that as legal knowledge needs to be disseminated among students in the seven government law colleges in TN, the colleges have been linked to the University through video conferencing facility. “Our university organises seminars, conferences, workshops and special lectures regularly. We broadcast these live to all students. 

Additionally, lectures delivered by highly respected faculty members from both India and abroad are telecast to students in real-time,” he said, adding that it would also help improve standard of legal education. “We will also be recording and archiving these lectures on our university website, so that those who would like to refer to it again or who missed it the first time around have an option to view it,” he said. In order to create a knowledge bank with more faculty members and researchers in law, the university currently has more than 100 research scholars pursuing PhD in various law related fields. 

“We have been providing fellowships for several research scholars from the university funds, besides those mandated by the University Grants Commission (UGC),” the vice-chancellor said. To ensure that lawyers have computer skills and knowledge of business administration, in addition to commerce, the university has launched courses like BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), B Com LLB (Hons), BCA LLB (Hons), LLM Taxation in the regular stream and in the master’s degree in corporate law. The university offers four undergraduate, nine postgraduate and 13 diploma courses, in addition to special training in English as part of its soft skills training programme.

Dec 24 exams postponed 

As the government has declared December 24 as holiday the Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University has postponed the exams scheduled for three and five year programmes in the university and its affiliated law colleges. The exam will be conducted on January 5 (three year) and 22 (five year).
