As all SSLC students, including those students who study minority languages need to take Tamil as a mandatory subject from this year, the government has given these students the option to write the minority language as an optional subject in the board examinations.
The DGE has planned the time-table with more holidays between each subject. This decision was welcomed by the schools and students.
Over 10 lakh SSLC students and more than 8 lakh Plus II candidates are expected to write the exam this year.
Last year, the Plus II examinations began on March 5 and ended on March 31, while the SSLC examinations commenced on March 19 and went on till April 10.
Welcoming the DGE’s decision to provide more holidays between subjects, B.Purushothaman, Senior Principal of city- based Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary School said that when he informed students on Tuesday about the timetable, they were delighted since they would have ample time to prepare between two exam dates.
“It is good that the DGE has slotted Physics for Class XII students as the last examination, as they feel the subject is difficult and will give them sufficient time to prepare well. The gap in exams will also help students from flood affected districts too,” Purushothaman said.
The examinations for Plus II will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 1.15 p.m. while for the SSLC students the examinations begin at 9.15 a.m. and end at 12 noon.
