As career-oriented women are pushing the average pregnancy age to early 30s, do you feel they are exposing themselves to greater health risks?
With age, there are chances of developing lifestyle diseases that can make pregnancy a difficult phase. Fertility also reduces and the child is prone to developing Down Syndrome. However, if one maintains a healthy lifestyle, exercises and eats properly, then women can reduce health risks associated with late pregnancy.
What are the essentials to be kept in mind during pregnancy?
Being physically fit and active is essential. Take a balanced diet with adequate fruits, green leafy vegetables and protein. A pregnant woman need not be confined to bed or to the house. She can travel by auto rickshaw, two wheelers, car, bus, train or flight depending on the distance she needs to travel. Pregnancy is a normal event in your life. Enjoy it.
Does preconception counselling help?
Modern, educated women prefer to go in for preconception counselling as they want to plan their pregnancy. One can see a gynae before planning a baby and for other queries related to pregnancy.
