Pongal travellers bring Koyambedu to a standstill

Most of the space in the Koyambedu market was fully occupied with the buses and the street vendors had to bear the brunt of it. Passengers approaching Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus were left stranded in Vadapalani itself due to heavy traffic.  As vehicles moved at snail’s pace and many passengers got down out from buses and started walking towards CMBT. 

The overcrowded bus station left the local passengers in city buses grumbling over the delay. A traffic cop, on conditions of anonymity, Said “We are having a real tough time regulating traffic, although we are doing our best”. The unprecedented traffic snarl did not even spare pedestrians too.
