Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting held at the party headquarters Kamalalaya, she said the party was gearing up in full force for the forthcoming assembly elections. Aspirants can apply in two weeks from now, she added. While paying tributes to Sikkim’s Ex-Governor V Rama Rao, who was an office bearer of the party, Soundararajan said that a meeting in view of the elections will be held on January 22 at party’s local headquarters.

She said, “We have decided to conduct office bearers meet in all the 234 constituencies across Tamil Nadu to cover the state booth-wise. These meets would be held next month.  We are making adequate arrangements to receive applications from aspiring contestants.” Speaking about the party’s reinforcement measures she expressed hope saying, “We are strong enough now for our contestants to win. Soon, we will be a part of the new government.”

Central Schemes:

Soundararajan pointed out that several key ministers were expected to visit the state shortly. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is to launch the Highways project on Monday. Soon afterward, Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu will be visiting Nagercoil.

The Central government is launching a special scheme for Anganwadi staff and more than one lakh staff members from across the nation are to be benefited from this step. A rehabilitation scheme for beggars and a National Highways Scheme among others are on the anvil, as high priority items on the Central government’s agenda.

She made a mention of the jallikattu ban and said that she was confident of it being conducted in the future as the government is taking all legal recourse. She assured that the BJP would not accept politicizing of the issue.
