This would be the first session of the New year.
With the Assembly elections three to four months away, the Governor was expected to outline the AIADMK Government's achievements, including the massive relief and rescue operations undertaken by it in the flood-hit districts, in his address.
After the Governor's address, the Business Advisory Committee would meet at Speaker P Dhanapal's chamber and decide on the duration of the session.
With the elections round the corner, various political parties had been demanding that the State Government spell out its stand on prohibition in the current session.
The Opposition parties, which had been alleging that the flood relief measures in the rain-hit districts were tardy, was expected to raise it in the session along with non-holding of Jallikattu (taming of bulls) in the state.
Though Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa made several efforts for holding the event this year, the stay granted by the Supreme Court to the notification issued by the Union Government stalled it.
The opposition parties had been blaming the government for the impasse and this issue was also expected to generate more heat in the session.
