Women voters outnumber men in city
There are totally 39,47,016 voters, with women outnumbering men in most of the places, in the 16 constituencies falling under Chennai district as per the final electoral rolls released on Wednesday.

In all, 1,18,243 voters have been added to the previous list released on September 15, 2015 revealing an increase of 3.09 per cent, according to a release issued by district electoral officer and Chennai corporation commissioner Vikram Kapur.
He said Velachery has emerged as the constituency with the highest number of voters and the lowest number of voters are in Harbour segment.
The total number of electorate include 19,62,414 males, 19,83,766 females and 836 transgenders. The list includes 32, 208 first time voters, who attained 18 years on Jan 1, 2016.
The first time voters will be issued with their elector’s photo identity cards on January 25, which is observed as National Voters’ Day, according to the district electoral officer.

The final electoral list for the 16 constituencies in Chennai released on Wednesday showed a rise of 1,18,343 voters from the rolls released on Sept 15, 2015. Here is a break-up of the male and female voters, and others and the constituency-wise data.
