A team of doctors headed by Dr R Selvakumar, Head of Forensics Department, KMC, and Dr P Sampath Kumar, HoD, Sri Ramachandra Medical University, carried out the procedure at the Anatomy Dissection Hall on the campus amid tight police security.
The post-mortem was done following a Madras High Court order on Wednesday to find out if there has been any foul play in her death, as alleged by the parents of the students from SVS Naturopathy and Yoga College.
Addressing reporters, Monisha’s father K Tamilarasan said that the Villupuram district collector and the DSP had delayed the procedure despite court orders and had allowed them to bring the body to Chennai only by 11 am. He added that he was hopeful of getting justice in Chennai. The procedure that began at 2 pm ended at around 4 pm. The Dean of KMC, Dr R Narayan Babu said that the doctors would submit a joint report to the court. “The specimen collected during the procedure will be sent to the Forensic Science Department in Mylapore,” he said.
The girls were found dead in a well near the college on January 23, after they had committed suicide. They had blamed the college correspondent in the suicide note, citing excess fees.
