According to the complainant, his father and noted film producer Mathioli P Shanmugham had exclusive rights over the story of ‘Yaksha Ganam’ a Malayalam movie that he had produced. This movie was later dubbed into Tamil as ‘Aayiram Jenmangal’ and Muthuraman was only given the rights to dub and release it in Tamil. “Muthuraman, however, tried to claim ownership of the story, contrary to the agreement we had signed and filed a case at the city civil court. I had also submitted an interim affidavit, proving our rights over the original story and the case is still pending in court,” Hemant Kumar, the complainant said. He said Muthuraman pretended to be the original owner of the story and signed an MOU with film director Sundar C to use the story and do ‘Aramanai-2 .’
Hemanth said ‘Aramanai 2’ is a straight remake of the movie ‘Ayiram Jenmangal’ and the rights of the original story is with him as he inherited it after the demise of his father.
