HMK pays respects to other state devotees

In an effort to assuage the negative image of other state devotees being threatened in Rameswaram, the members of Hindu Makkal Katchi offered ‘Purna Kumbam’ respect to the devotees from other states who arrived at the temple on Tuesday. The cadres assured devotees that they would be protected and they can safely continue their spiritual sojourn in Rameswaram.

The HMK cadre led by district president Prabarakan assembled in front of the Eastern entrance of Ramanathaswamy temple and offered the respects to every devotee coming from other states.

Later he met the media and said “Only a fringe element was responsible for attack on Kannada driver on Monday and owing to that the image of Tamil Nadu had taken a beating. Hence we have involved ourselves in damage control act of welcoming the devotees with ‘Purna Kumbam.’”

This would instil a sense of brotherhood among the people of different states and the spiritual tourism would flourish said Prabakaran.

Leaving nothing to chance, the police provided security to 22 lorries bearing Karnataka registration numbers.

A lorry parcel service functioning at Kappalur near Madurai had lorries that would ship parcels to Karnataka. Owing to the ongoing Cauvery river dispute police provided security cover to the lorries and ensured their safe passage.
