TK Rajendran, DGP, has sent a circular to Superintendents of Police of all districts to provide security to government and private establishments that function on Friday.

In the city, adequate protection would be provided to all government and private establishments that would work on Friday, sources said.

Similarly, government buses would be operated with police security throughout the state.

S George, Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, has instructed his team to ensure that there was no disturbance to law and order during the strike hours.

He also ordered the force to take stringent action against those inciting trouble and deal with them with an iron hand.

Sources said additional forces would be deployed at vantage and sensitive points to quell violence and emotional demonstrations like self-immolation attempts.

Shops and business establishments owned by Kannadigas in the city would be under police surveillance and cover.

Inspectors of Mylapore and Velachery, under whose jurisdiction two hotels owned by Kannadigas were attacked, have already been transferred and kept on vacancy reserve.

The Police Commissioner has asked the force to keep a strict vigil on all the areas, including sensitive spots, to ensure that the bandh passes off peacefully in the city.
