VPS Rana, takes command of AFAC, Kovai

Air Commodore VPS Rana on Wednesday took over the command of Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) in Coimbatore.

Rana succeeds Air Commodore NS Vaidya, who has been posted on promotion to the IAF’s Headquarters Training Command, according to an official release issued here on Wednesday. 

Rana assumed charge at a grand ceremony attended by all the personnel of the Air Force Administrative College here. 

He was commissioned in the Administrative Branch in December, 1984 and is a Category ‘A’ Master Fighter Controller. 

The new chief of the college holds the unique distinction of serving in all categories of Air Defence Control and Reporting units, the release said. 

AFAC in a statement said, he commanded a Radar unit during ‘Operation Vijay’ and participated actively during ‘Operation Parakram’ in Jammu and Kashmir sector. Before the present assignment at Coimbatore, the air commodore had served as Principal Director of Air Force Works at Air Headquarter, New Delhi. 

Rana was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service in 2014 and was commended by Chief of the Air Staff in 1995.
