A CB-CID team held inquiries to find out whether the notes were linked to the last month’s train heist. It also conducted a door-to-door inquiry with the residents regarding the torn notes and how they found their way to the open spot on that road. During the inquiry they found similar torn notes in three houses.

When questioned the inmates of the house claimed that they brought a few notes that were found on the roadside. Later, the team inspected a saw mill in the area and found several bundles of torn notes. When the team questioned the owner of the mill, he told the sleuths that he used to get them from a saw mill at Puducherry.

The owner of the mills at Puducherry used get such torn notes from the RBI in Chennai through auction process. He used to sell the mutilated notes to us. They used to buy around 10 tonnes of torn currency and later mix them with saw powder after cutting them into pieces. The adding of notes would result in increased combustion activity. So there was a good demand from customers, the saw mill owner explained. During the Ayudha pooja a few bundles of torn notes went missing from a sack.

Following this, cops are now searching for the person who disposed the torn notes at Ko Kucchipalayam.
