The incident came to light on Wednesday morning after neighbours spotted the front door of the house of the lawyer Suganthi remaining open. Locals immediately alerted the advocate, who had gone to Kochi for Dusshera holidays.

On getting information, Suganthi informed the police. Immediately, a team from the Thisayanvilai station went to the house and inspected the scene of crime.

Initial investigations with neighbours revealed that a gang had broken open the door and ransacked the house the previous night. Police are waiting for the return of advocate to receiving a formal complaint from Suganthi. Later they would register a case and take the investigation to the next level.

Meanwhile, Suganthi met the media and claimed that her house was ransacked only because she had appeared in a case against Sasikala Pushpa. She has no doubt that the supporters of Member of Parliament were involved in the ransacking incident. The lawyer also claimed that she had already received threat calls from two of MP’s supporters.

from two of MP’s supporters. Further, Suganthi also claimed that there was a caste angle to the issue and added that she could not be cowed down by such threats and face them through courts.

It may be recalled that based on a complaint filed by the maid, a case of sexual harassment was booked agains Sasikala Pushpa and her family in Thoothukudi district. Sasikala moved the Madras High Court (Madurai Bench) seeking anticipatory bail and Suganthi had appeared against Sasikala in that case.
