21,289 special buses to clear festival rush

The State transport corporations have decided to operate 21,289 specials between October 26 and 28 to tackle the festival rush.

The State Express Transport Corporations will operate 11,225 special buses during the period While, 10,064 services will ply from other parts of the State on October 26, a total of 5,762 specials will be operated on that day from Chennai . The following day, 7,480 special buses would be on roads and on Oct 28, 8048 would ferry public.  

Similarly, the MTC has decided to set up three temporary bus stands for the convenience of passengers bound for long distance travel. For this purpose, three temporary terminuses, Anna Nagar (West), Tambaram Sanatorium and Poonamallee, will be opened in city from Oct 26 to 28. A statement issued by the MTC on Friday said that 200 special link buses would be operated  to these terminuses. 
Accordingly, three cut services (70, 114 and 70V) would be operated to Anna Nagar West, while 10 services (21G, 18A, 91,95, 99, 105, T151, 500, 517, 555) would ferry passengers to Tambaram Sanatorium and route numbers 62, 65B, 66, 49A, 54, 153 cut, 101 would be plied to Poonamallee. 
Special trains: The Southern Railway will also be operating specials to clear the extra rush. Following is the schedule of the special trains: Train No 06026 Tiruchy–Chennai Egmore will leave Tiruchy at 3.15 pm on Oct 29 and reach Chennai Egmore at 9.10 pm the same day. Train No 06025 Chennai Egmore–Tiruchy will leave Chennai Egmore at 9 am on October 31 and reach Tiruchy at 2.30 pm the same day.  

Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli special: Train No 06041 Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli will leave Chennai-Egmore at 10.45 pm on October 29 and reach Tirunelveli at 12.30 am the next day. 
Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Suvidha special: The Suvidha special will leave Tirunelveli at 6.20 pm on Oct 30 and reach Chennai Egmore at 7.20 am the next day. Advance reservations trains will commence on October 15.
