After the indefinite strike, the fishermen recently went to fish and out of 550 boats 47 boats were not given license for using illegal gill nets for fishing. The problem with gill nets is that they would even catch the fish eggs causing danger to the ecosystem. They are therefore banned by the officials.
As license were not given for more than 30 boat owners, fishermen picketed the Fisheries office and demanded license. They claimed that they did not use the gill nets and the officials are biased. They also did not allow other fishermen to obtain the fishing license. In the meantime, police were informed and they rushed to the spot. Immediately, the protesting fishermen left the spot and other fishermen obtained license from the officials. After staying for some time the fishermen who were not given the license went away.
