Vambakeerappalayam beach is the Marina of Puducherry

Puducherry government has decided to develop the Vambakeerappalayam beach near the lighthouse into a tourist spot. Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, as part of her Swachh Bharath and Swachh Puducherry programme visited the beach on Sunday and referred it as the “Marina beach of Puducherry”.

Since, the beach is to be converted as one like the Marina beach in Chennai, the Lt Governor also unveiled the name board at the beach. Stating that people could spend time in the evening along with their families in the beach, the Lt Governor directed that buses should be operated to the beach and tourists should be taken free of cost for one week and later by fixing a ticket fare. 

Dr Bedi who also visited the Archaeological site of Arikkamedu and directed to develop it in such a way to attract tourists. She also visited the drainage recycling plant at Dubbrayapet and directed to give power connection to the plant in the next two months and make it function fully. District Collector Sathyendra Singh, Secretaries Narendra Kumar and Babu, Puducherry Municipal Commissioner Chandraseker and tourism Director Munusamy accompanied the Lt Governor.
