The Thirumudivakkam plant in Chennai covers an area of 1.80 lakh sqft while the Mannur plant located close to Sriperumbudur covers an area of one lakh sqft. These plants are highly integrated facilities that manufacture gearboxes and gearmotors for mobile machinery, wind turbines and industrial processes. The facilities also house an R&D Centre, which develops products tailor-made for the Indian market. A new facility of 1.40 lakh sqft will be built, adjacent to the current plant at Thirumudivakkam. It will house modern assembly lines, R&D Centre and test labs, all built with the highest standards of quality and safety, consistent with Bonfiglioli locations worldwide. The expected annual capacity is 75,000 units, to serve existing and new markets besides customers in off-highway, construction, mining, agriculture and material handling applications. The upcoming facility in Pune, spread over 45,000 sq ft, is expected to be commissioned next March. With 11 assembly centres and 2,000 warehouse locations, it will have an annual capacity of 1.50 lakh units to serve its diverse customers. In Bologna, Italy, the company will break ground on a new SMART factory based on Industry 4.0 technologies and innovations. This will call for an investment of Rs 450 crore. The 1.6 million sqft facility will produce 8 lakh units per year. Sonia Bonfiglioli, Chairman, Bonfiglioli Group, said “The expansion plans in India will enable us to increase the production capacity and to drastically reduce lead times to domestic customers and nearby countries.”
