While being asked that the People’s Welfare Front (PWF) will contest in the ensuing bye-elections, he said: “Elections to these constituencies were countermanded by the election commission last time because of large scale distribution of gifts and money.

But this time the Election Commission has not given any assurance that money power would not be displayed once again. Personally, I feel that the PWF should not contest this election. However, the final official decision would be declared after consulting with other constituents of the front”, he said.

He pointed out that the Election Commission should should fix CCTV cameras in all the booths, provide CRPF protection and prevent money distribution to the voters.

“Last time, MDMK contested in Aravakkurichi, in Thiruparangkundram CPI and Thanjavur DMDK had contested. Currently DMDK is not allied with us. It is not known that MDMK and CPI would be contesting once again in their respective constituencies. Above all the decision to boycott would mean a complete withdrawal or passively support any other candidates would be decided soon,” he said.

According to the VCK leader, usually in bye-polls government machinery would support the ruling party and officials would psychologically favor to support them.
