6 juveniles held for assaulting 22-year-old student

Thoraipakkam police, on Thursday, arrested six juveniles for attacking a hotel management student with knives at Techpark service road, Mettukuppam on Wednesday.

Police said, the juveniles teased a girl, classmate of Vishnu (22), a resident of VGP Avenue, Mettukuppam, when they were talking at the Techpark service road on Wednesday evening. 

When Vishnu objected to the behaviour of the youngsters they started a fight with him and later stabbed him. The gang then escaped from the spot. 

Vishnu was admitted to a hospital nearby and later, Vishnu lodged a complaint with the Thoraipakkam police. Following the complaint from Vishnu, police arrested six juveniles who are all residents of Mettukuppam area. 

Youth arrested for stabbing uncle 

Maduravoyal police, on Wednesday, arrested a 29-yearold youth for stabbing his uncle after a drunken brawl. 

Police arrested Manikandan, a resident of Gandhi street, Chomathamman Nagar, Maduravoyal, for stabbing his uncle Muthupandi (36). Police said, both Manikandan and Muthupandi, who live in nearby houses, consumed alcohol at a vacant land near their locality.

The duo had an argument under the influence of alcohol and in a fit of rage, Manikandan pulled out a knife which he was carrying and stabbed Muthupandi twice. He then escaped from the spot. Muthupandi was admitted to a hospital in the locality. 

Later, he logged a complaint with the Maduravoyal police and the accused Manikandan was arrested.
