Four youths involved in shop burglaries held

Valasarawalkam police, on Wednesday, arrested four youths, who were involved in several shop burglary and recovered 40 cell phones and new stolen apparel from them.

Police arrested T Praveen (20), of Ambal nagar, Ramapuram, R Karthi (19), of South Cooum Salai, Pudupet, S Samuel (19), of South Cooum street, Pudupet and V David (19), of Venkateshwara Nagar, Ramapuram.

Police launched the hunt for the gang following a complaint from Suresh, owner of Lovable Mobiles at Tiruppur Kumaran Street, Valasarwalkam after his shop was burgled. 

The burglars had broken open the shutter lock and looted 15 mobile phones, Rs 15,000 in cash and a laptop from the showroom. Police also had got a complaint from Madhanagopal, owner of Adarsh Garments at Arcot Road, Valasarawalkam after his shop was burgled and Rs 78,000 worth shirts and T-shirts were stolen from the shop on September 4. 

Police said the gang was involved in similar theft cases at Nandambakkam and Seven Wells areas where they had stolen cameras, printers and mobile phones.

Police recovered 40 mobile phones, a Nikkon camera, one flash light, ready made shirts, T-shirts and trousers from the gang. The arrested accused have been produced before the magistrate court and were remanded in judicial custody.
