According to sources, the flying squad headed by Kannan, deputy Tashildar, intercepted a car proceeding from Tiruchy to Thanjavur at Vallam. They found Rs 15.45 lakh in cash being carried in the car without proper documents. When Mohammed Shajid (31) of Race Course avenue of Coimbatore who was driving the car was questioned, he said the cash was meant for purchasing wood for the plywood company he has been working for. As he failed to produce any supporting document for the same, the cash was seized and deposited in the Thanjavur treasury. Further investigations were on. Across the constituency 12 check posts were constituted to enforce the model code of conduct.
