SL-bound narcotics seized at Rameswaram

The incident happened in the morning when five boxes containing two lakh tablets of banned Tramadol X 225 tablets were taken from Chennai to Ramanathapuram in an omni bus. The boxes were later shifted to another car and taken to Vedhala village near Rameswaram to be smuggled to Sri Lanka. Meantime, as police had received a tip off, they chased the car and checked it. Banned narcotic tablets were retrieved three persons who were in the car were secured. The accused were later identified as Gopal, Murugan and Manoj. Mandapam police are investigating about the origin of the tablets. The total value of the seized tablets in Indian market is Rs.2 crore and the value  in terms of Sri Lankan market is Rs.6 crores. The vehicle  used for transporting the tablets was seized.
