Addressing the party cadre, Stalin requested them to make the candidate win by a huge margin in the by-poll. “The enthusiasm in the crowd gives me the confidence that Saravanan will clinch victory,” he added. Launching an attack on the AIADMK, he said that for the past five months the party which came to power is in sleep mode and does not care for the welfare of the people. He added “It is DMK that is always concerned about the people and the party keeps fighting for people’s welfare irrespective of whether it is in power or not.” DMK has won more seats as an opposition party and it is performing as a responsible opposition he said and added that winning and losing are part of politics. Charging that the state government is remaining idle on the issues affecting the people, he said that DMK has been fighting for the rights of the farmers in Cauvery and other important issues effectively. Taking a dig at DMDK leader Vijayakant, Stalin said “Continuous losses has forced Vijayakant to become a refugee in politics and he is running out of options without a place to seek shelter.”
Meeting shifted to remote place
Earlier, the officials denied permission for the meeting on Sunday. Initially Stalin’s meeting was planned to be held near Madurai airport. But officials refused to allow the meeting there. To get permission the organisers changed the venue to a remote place at Valayankulam near Madurai.
