Nominations: 46 accepted in Aravakurichi, 15 in Thanjavur
While the nominations of 15 candidates, including the nominees of AIADMK, DMK were accepted 21 were rejected in Thanjavur on Thursday, after scrutiny. In Aravakurichi 46 were accepted and 13 were rejected.

As many as 36 nominations filed by 29 candidates were scrutinised in the presence of the candidates and their representatives by the election officials. In the end, the nominations of M Rengasamy of AIADMK, Dr Anjugam Boopathy of DMK, M S Ramalingam of BJP, V Abdulla Sait of DMDK, G Kunjithapatham of PMK, A Nalladurai of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), S Karikalchozhan of NCP and independent candidates V Jaganathan, M Santhosh, M S Arumugam, Adhi Nedunchezhian, V Ramesh Gandhi, K Karvannan, L Baburaman and N Raja were accepted. Totally, 21 nominations, including that of independent candidates and the alternate candidates of political parties were rejected. Nominations of 10 independent candidates were rejected as they were not filled as per instructions of the election commission.
Meanwhile, in Aravakurichi, out of 59 filed, 46, including that of Senthil Balaji (AIADMK) and KC Palanisamy (DMK), were accepted.
Earlier, when the representatives of the DMK and other parties raised objection over the thumb impression of the AIADMK supremo in the papers of the party candidates in both the constituency, Rengasamy (Thanjavur) and V Senthil Balaji (Aravakurichi), the returning officer said that the nominations were accepted as per the rules of the election commission. The last day for withdrawal of nominations is November 5 and the final candidate list would be announced by then official sources added.
14 nominations rejected in Tirupparakundram constituency
Out of 44 nominations filed at Tirupparakundram constituency, 14 were rejected thus taking the total accepted nominations to 30.
The nomination for Tirupparakundram by-election commenced on October 26 and went on till November 2. Candidates of all the major parties including DMK, AIADMK, DMDK, BJP and PMK filed their nominations at the constituency, a day before the last date.
Host of independent candidates too filed their nominations taking the total tally to 44. Out of 44 nominations, the total number of nominated candidates were 37, meaning those candidates who had filed their nominations more than once were not taken into account, and out of 37 five were alternate candidates.
On Thursday, scrutiny of the nomination papers was carried out by returning officer of Tirupparakundram constituency. Out of 44 nominations 14 were rejected . Most of the rejected nominations, except one, were those of alternate candidates and duplicate nominations were made by the same candidate.
Kumarasamy was the sole independent candidate to get rejected for not submitting form 26 and not remitting the deposit amount. As the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is on Nov 5 the final list of candidates will be known on that day.
Jayalalithaa will soon be out of hospital
Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker, M Thambidurai, said that the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will come out of the hospital as healthy as she was 10 years back and asked the party workers to make the AIADMK candidates in a remarkable winning margin and make all the other party candidates lose their deposits.
