It turns out that it was actually the Congress MP and former Union Finance Minister who chose to wait for his flight outside the airport, sitting on a bench like a regular passenger.
The Congress leader was on his way to Delhi and had arrived early for his flight. Unlike most political bigwigs, he did not head straight for the VIP lounge but preferred the humble stone bench outside. The politician had slipped off his footwear and sat browsing his phone and checking email by himself. He was accompanied by a single security guard and a watchful attender.
A picture of PC’s alone time was shared with some party members, and his supporter Karate R. Thiagarajan posted the same of Facebook with a note praising the politician’s down-to-earth attitude.
Seeing the post and pictures, lawyer and senior journalist Sanjay Pinto texted the leader, saying, “Saw the picture of you sitting outside the airport like a common man. So refreshingly rare in this VVIP era, to which he immediately got a reply from Chidambaram who responded, saying: “Nice bench. Fresh air!”
