The first bench comprising of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R Mahadevan on extending the cover held that the “necessary Government Order for payment would be issue by the State government on being intimated by CISF.”
However, the bench came down heavily on Port Trust, where the CISF personnel are lodged, for utter lack of coordination. Holding that the HC will have no other option but to call the Chairman, Chennai Port Trust to remain present personally in the court if the situation fails to improve by the next hearing date, said “We regret that apparently, there is lack of co-ordination on the part of the Port Trust and the same aspects are again and again being pointed out to us. It thus become necessary for the Port trust to nominate an officer for co-ordination. Needful be done within three days with intimation to CISF.”
The case has been posted for further hearing to January 24. The bench also recorded the submission that work being carried out by the PWD in the High Court premises to facilitate the CISF’s functioning would be completed by this end of this year.
