Former Manitheya Makkal Katchi (MMK) leader, Tameemum Ansari, during his address, claimed that the protest is not to threaten anyone but to show their opposition to UCC. BJP government led by Prime Minister, Modi, is trying to impose UCC which is a threat to unity in diversity. He also claimed that India is a multifaceted country and its richness lies in its diverse nature. But there is a false propaganda carried out by Hindutva forces that Muslims are the one who are benefiting when UCC is not implemented. In fact, there are 300 separate laws in the country and there are only four for Muslims. These four separate laws are related to civil issues and does not bring any disturbance to public.
The protest is not just for change in Musilm personal laws but in future there are chances that Modi government would scrap the PCR Act and will also bring a law to impose Hindi throughout the country. Modi government was elected only by 33 percent of voters and majority of people even Hindus did not vote for Modi. Hence majority of people do not favour UCC claimed Ansari. MMK leader, Jawahirullah, claimed that Modi was running a fascist government and the country wasruled by RSS ideology. If the government tries to impose UCC a much larger protest than the protests organised during the Shah Bano case would be conducted claimed Jawahirullah.
Triple Talaq:
Apart from them many other speakers criticised Modi for abandoning his wife and claimed that he had no rights to speak about Triple Talaq.
