Thanking the party cadre, people of Tamil Nadu and her supporters from all over the world for their relentless prayers and offerings, Jayalalithaa said, “I want to gladly announce that I have attained rebirth as a result of your prayers,” in a release issued by the party late on Sunday. With less than a week to go for the assembly polls in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur constituencies and by-poll in Tiruparankundram and Nellithope in Puducherry, Jayalalithaa’s message to her party cadre and the people is expected to boost the party’s morale as well as quell rumours about her health condition. “With the sole aim of raising the living standards of people of Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK government headed by me has introduced several schemes that have earned the admiration of the world.

To ensure that these people-friendly schemes are continued, public in these constituencies should vote for the AIADMK. Although I am unable to meet you (voters) in person, my thoughts and my heart is always with you,” Jayalalithaa said in the statement. Expressing sadness over the death of certain party cadre following her ailment, Jayalalithaa urged the AIADMK cadre to work for the growth and success of the party and not resort to extreme sacrifice.  Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on September 22 and has been receiving treatment since then. In her absence, the portfolios held by her were allotted to Finance Minister O Panneerselvam who also presided over Cabinet meetings in her absence.
