It all began on Monday morning when two sisters, Harini (13) and Lakshmi (6), had complained of pain in their eyes. Their mother, Seerangam, had gone to the nearby shop and bought an eye-drop. Soon after administering the medicine, the girls complained of irritation in eyes and also complained of eye sight dimming. They were rushed to Madurai GRH where doctors said that the problem was luckily minor and they could be discharged after 48 hours. As a piece of advice, the doctors said that people should follow doctor’s advice to buy such sensitive medicines.

3 inmates of girls’ home drink anti-dandruff tonic:

Three inmates of a private girls’ home here have been admitted at Government Rajaji hospital after they allegedly consumed an anti-dandruff tonic. Police are interrogating the home incharge and others. The home in question is being run by Madha Trust at Samayanallur and the three girls are in their early teens and aged between 13 and 15. According to police, the home in-charge informed that the three girls had consumed anti-dandruff tonic that was kept in the home while playing at around 12 am on Monday. Within minutes, the girls complained of stomach pain and had fainted, it is said. The in-charge of the home immediately informed the ambulance service and took them to Madurai GRH where they were under treatment, police said. Samayanallur police, who carried out an investigation on information, have grown suspicious over in-charge’s version of the incident and are investigating the matter further.  As all three victims remained unconscious, police could not get any statement from them. “We will know what exactly happened only after the girls gain consciousness and say something,” said police sources. The home run for girls who have lost either or both parents currently houses 21 girls.
