The incident took place in the morning when Sandhya (name changed), studying SSLC at a government higher secondary school at Andipatti, was stabbed by Navin Kumar, a first year student of a private college at Theni. Sandhya sustained grievous injuries in her throat and head. Hearing her screams, people rushed to the spot and rushed her to a nearby private hospital where she was given first aid and then taken to the Theni GH. Navin Kumar fled the scene of crime after stabbing her. After obtaining a complaint from Sandhya’s father, the Andipatti police have booked a case and are investigating the incident. They have also launched a search for Navin Kumar.  Police sources claimed that Navin Kumar and Sandhya used to travel in the same bus to reach their respective educational institutions. He used to often stalk her and has also proposed to her on several occasions. But she has always refused his advances and had even informed her parents. Though her father had warned him several times and used to accompany her to the bus stop, the problem never ended. On Tuesday morning, when Navin approached Sandhya and proposed again she warned him of police action if he continues to stalk her. Navin got angry and began abusing Sandhya verbally. Sources said that before stabbing her, Navin had said that if she did not accept his love, she could  never live with anyone else.
