The child, identified as Kavanya Shree, is currently undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Teynampet. The doctors have put her on observation for two days. On Friday morning, Kavanya Shree, was on the first-floor balcony of apartment at Nattu Subrayan Street in Mylapore with her grandmother, aged 65.
Kavanya saw her mother Parimala Devi, walking out the building with her fourand-a-half-year-old sister at around 9 am. The balcony had a grill parapet with a lot of space between rods. “As she is excited seeing her mother and sister, began shouting out to her mother that she wanted to join with them,” police said.
Suddenly, the toddler slipped and fell through the gap to the ground. Her grandmother could not get up immediately to save the child from the fall. Hearing her screams, Devi rushed back and took her in an auto to a private hospital in RK Salai. After giving first aid, the child was referred to Apollo Hospital and by 12.50 pm.
The doctors are giving her treatment for the head injuries she suffered and she is in a stable condition.
