Albert (21), pursuing his third-year Computer Science at a private college, was held for raping Athira (name changed), a Class 7 student.
A few days ago, Athira’s mother found her to be dull and depressed. Sensing that something was amiss, the mother questioned the minor girl who spilled the beans.
It is learnt that Albert had been taking advantage of the minor, while she was alone at home as her father worked as a security guard and her mother as a house maid.
Athira, also confessed to her mother about being friends with Albert for the past eight months. Albert reportedly forced the minor girl into having physical relationship with him for several times in the past few months.
The mother later filed a complaint with the local police, who arrested the youth from his house under the POCSO Act and section 376 of the IPC (punishment for rape). He has been remanded to police custody.
