Chennai International Film Festival postponed to January 5
The much awaited 14th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) which was scheduled to happen between December 15 and 22, 2016 has been postponed owing to the demise of TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

“Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has supported the CIFF continuously for the last five years. As a mark of respect to her demise, the Executive Committee of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation has decided to postpone the 14th CIFF to January 5 to 12, 2017,” said the official Press release from Festival Director E Thangaraj. It is worth mentioning that in the wake of heavy rainfall and floods in Chennai in December 2015, the Chennai International Film Festival had been postponed to January 6 to 13, 2016. This year’s festival will have the screening of films selected for the Indian Panorama, films that won the Oscar Award for Best Foreign Language Films in 2015 and many films from countries like France, Brazil and Iran among others. Apart from these, 12 Tamil films will be screened under the competitive category.
