The events page caught the attention of many social media users and within two days, 29,000 people have showed their interest in attending the meeting and around 11,000 people have confirmed to be present there. There was no response when the group was contacted through Facebook. However, on their description page, they say, “We are putting our full efforts, trying to rope in students from each district across the state. We will decide the next course of action, after 32 members from 32 districts join us.”
Karthik V, who is going to the event, says, “We always hear that youngsters stay away from politics. The recent protest at Marina showed the power of the youth. Jallikattu was just one reason for us to come together. It was fight against the system and it is a good time to initiate a political party.” Lack of leadership was one concern that people raised for the recent movement.
“Things would have been different if there was a leader to the student protest. The next election is scheduled in 2021. It is better people have another option. After all, democracy is ‘Of the people, for the people and by the people’.,” says Mahesh M, a protester who is also going to the event.
