The vehicles are being checked for illegal alteration without the permission of the RTO. Police sources said the officials found it difficult to examine the super-sophisticated vehicles and have sought time to complete the procedure.
Meanwhile, senior police officials said there were requests from ‘influential’ people not to book cases against the owners of the cars and to release the vehicles. “But, we have already booked the cases and the owners can take their cars after paying the fines imposed on the respective vehicles. If the MV officials find any unauthorised alteration, they too will levy a fine. The officials have the right to impound the vehicles to set right such alterations,” a senior police official said.
It is said that the owners are worried about the safety of their cars which have been kept in the open near the Kanathur police station and are using their ‘connections’ to get the vehicles released, sources added.
