Three friends of Soundarapandian were also among the suspended personnel as they were also involved in the fight at the house of Saranya on Saturday.
Police said constables Kallanai, Chandran and Santhanakumar were suspended following a complaint from constable Saranya’s sister Devi, alleging that the youth had barged in to her house and created a ruckus.
Police said these personnel had gone to Saranya’s house along with Soundarapandian reportedly to warn Amrutha Raj. Then the gang and Amrutha Raj got in to a clash and the latter pulled out a knife and stabbed Soundarapandian to death.
Police have also picked up Saranya, the woman cop, for interrogation. However, her arrest has not been recorded yet. She has been named as the second accused in the murder case along with Amrutha Raj.
Tiruvallur SP Samson convened a meeting of the senior police officers of the district and discussed the ways to handle the case.
Police said a detailed report on the incident has been sought and three constables, who had accompanied Soundarapandian to Saranya’s house, would also have to face stringent punishment. Amrutha Raj was arrested on Sunday and lodged in Puzhal prison.
