Alleging that George has “assured to provide full police support to the ruling faction of AIADMK (led by Sasikala) to indulge in all sorts of malpractices and corrupt practices to favour the ruling AIADMK,” DMK organising secretary R S Bharati, in his memorandum sent to Chief Election Commissioner Nazim Zaidi, said “the constitutional mandate of conducting free and fair election would be defeated if George is allowed to continue as CoP of Chennai and hence it was imperative to transfer him till the declaration of results to R K Nagar and completion of the election process.”
Referring to media reports suggesting that the IPS officer had not attended the phone call of O Panneerselvam during his last short stint as chief minister, Bharati said they were “reliably given to understand that George played a vital role in favour of one faction of the ruling AIADMK.”
