Seven-year rigorous imprisonment for former SBI manager
Special Judge for CBI Cases, Madurai S Ganesan has convicted and sentenced State Bank of India (SBI) former Chief Manager G P Radhakrishnan and five others to seven and five years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a cheating case.

The CBI Court after completion of the trial convicted G P Radhakrishnan, SBI Pudukottai branch ex-chief manager, J Rajagoplan, ex-asst cashier, Shek Amir, Rajkapoor and P Vishwanathan and sentenced each of them to seven years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI). Siva Rangasamy, also involved in the case, was convicted and sentenced to undergo five years RI. Another accused, T Mohan was acquitted by the court. The Court also slapped a total fine of Rs 65,000 on them. The allegation is that during the year 2002, the accused officials entered into a criminal conspiracy and facilitated in opening a current account in the name of a non-existing firms caused a wrongful pecuniary loss of Rs 1.08 crore to the SBI.
