Sinha reviewed the arrangements with the top officials about the by-poll at a meeting held at a star hotel in the city. Soon after his arrival, Sinha held a meeting with the election observers posted in the constituency.

Later, he held discussions with Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, DEOs, state government and senior police officials, expenditure and other department authorities, following the Opposition DMK’s allegation and complaints of alleged distribution of money to the voters by the candidate of one of the AIADMK factions with hat symbol.

The other faction led by O Panneerselvam was contesting under the name AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma with ‘electric pole’ being its new symbol.

During the meeting, the discussions centred on ensuring adequate security arrangements to be made during the election and the steps to check cash distribution to voters. In another meeting, he held discussions with representatives of political parties contesting the by-poll at RK Nagar.

Sinha was expected to visit the RK Nagar constituency on Friday and inspect the arrangements made for the election, including for polling.
