Senior police officials told DTNext that all district police officials have been instructed to mobilise full strength and to deploy them at key areas.
Though the abstention of ruling AIADMK and a few other parties would make the strike less than total, the coming together of DMK, Left and VCK plus the support extended by a section of traders, actors, producers and other like-minded groups is expected to have some impact. Suburban and express train service would remain unaffected.
Metropolitan Transport Corporation has also announced that all buses will operate without interruption. A sizable number of auto rickshaws and private vehicles could be off the roads. All shops at Koyambedu market would remain closed. Aavin is making arrangements to ensure that 7 lakh litres of milk reaches Chennai by 4 am on Tuesday.
