Railway employee found dead on MLA hostel premises
A railway employee was found dead inside the MLA hostel premises at Omandurar Thottam in the city on Monday.

Police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating the case. According to police, Andrews Sounderrajan (51), a resident of Royapuram, was found dead reportedly with injuries on the head inside the hostel near the entry gate on Swamy Sivananda Salai.
The workers inside MLA hostel are said to have spotted the man lying on the ground on Sunday evening but mistook him for someone drunk. However, they grew suspicion as the man remained lying in the same place till Monday morning and passed on the information to the police.
Police retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
10-year-old run over by mini lorry
A 10-year-old school boy was fatally run over by a mini lorry at Ayappakkam on Sunday. The deceased, Deepak, a Class 4 student hailing from Mangadu had come to his grandmother’s house in Iyappan Nagar in Ayappakkam for summer vacation when the tragedy took place. It is said that he was playing on the street when a mini lorry, used to carry water cans, ran over him as the driver Vignesh attempted to reverse the four-wheeler.
Deepak was rushed to a private hospital in Ambattur with severe injuries, but was declared brought dead. Poonamallee police have registered a case against Vignesh and arrested him.
