Two houses burgled using same technique
Two locked houses were burgled in the city late on Wednesday. A Rajasthani trader in Park Town and an NRI in Ambattur lost valuables worth several lakhs. Both the families were on vacation when the heist happened and in both the cases the burglars gained entry by breaking open the front door lock.

The Rajasthani trader Deepak (32) was in his native with his family, when the neighbours informed him about his house lock being found broken on Wednesday. He rushed back on Thursday and found more than 15 sovereigns of gold and diamond jewellery worth several lakhs missing. The burglars had gained entry by breaking open the front door lock of the house.
Deepak then lodged a complaint with the Elephant Gate police station. Police have collected finger prints and other evidences from the site and have launched a hunt for the robbers. Police have also collected the CCTV footages from private CCTV cameras in the locality in a bid to identify the culprits.
Meanwhile, Salim (53), an NRI, who had come on leave for a couple of days went to a relative’s house at Pallavaram with his family on Wednesday. In his house at Chandrasekharapuram in Ambattur too, the burglars broke open the front door lock to gain entry. When he returned on Thursday, Salim found about 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery had been stolen from the bureau. He lodged a complaint with the Ambattur police.
