‘Friend’ hacks newly-wed man to death, held
A 22-year-old was arrested for killing his friend who recently married a nursing college student amidst stiff opposition from both the families, in Vyasarpadi, on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhanasekar, (22), resident of NSC Bose street, New Anna Nagar, Tirumullaivoyal, and was employed at the Cargo section at the Airport. He got married to Ranjani on Monday.
Dhanasekar left home on Tuesday morning informing his wife that he was going to collect his dues (Rs 5,000) from Shettu alias Guganraj, (22), resident of Vignesh Nagar, Kattankolathur, and went missing.
The murder came to light during the wee hours on Wednesday after the passersby alerted the cops about a dead man with bleeding injuries in the head near the tracks along Sundaram Main Road, Vyasarpadi.
The cops traced his identity with the help of the train ticket Dhanasekar had on him, and later zeroed in on Shettu who confessed to the murder.
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was earlier a resident of Bhakthavachalam Colony in Vyasarpadi, and has two murder-attempt cases pending against him.
The police are investigating him to ascertain why he killed Dhanasekar and whether there is to more to the murder than money.
